Ceremonies and Honors

PRINCIPAL’S LIST

Students holding a 4.0 grade-point average (All A’s) in a report card grading period for 1st -5th graders. A certificate will be presented to the student.

HONOR ROLL

Students holding a 3.0 -3.9 average in a report card grading period for 1st - 5th graders will have a certificate presented to them.

PERFECT ATTENDANCE

Perfect attendance is for those students who are present in class on time every day and all day. Check outs, tardiest, and any absences are counted. A certificate will be awarded each nine-weeks and an award given at the end of the year ceremony. Students can also receive random prizes in the morning for being at school on time.

TERRIFIC KIDS AND BUGS

Terrific Kids and BUGS are two programs sponsored by the Kiwanis Club to celebrate academic and behavioral achievements.

Terrific Kids (Behavior)

The program is for 1st through 5th grade students who exemplify the following attributes: Thoughtful

Enthusiastic

Respectful

Responsible

Inclusive

Friendly

Inquisitive

Capable

The program will take place the first, second, and third nine-weeks. Each homeroom teacher chooses two students based on the above attributes. The celebration will be near report card day.

BUGS (Academics and Effort)

The program is for 1st through 5th grade students who show improvement in grades from one nine-weeks period to the next. Each homeroom teacher chooses two worthy students. The program will take place the second and third nine weeks. The celebration will be near report card day.

POSITIVE REWARDS

Teachers often recognize their students for demonstration of good character, behavior, improved work ethic, or improved behavior.

• Positive Office Referrals are rewarded for extraordinary and exemplary circumstances such as acts of kindness, great character, exemplary grades, etc. A certificate will be written by a staff member and the awarded student go to the office for a prize and to be recognized by office staff.

• Mustang points will be rewarded for day-to-day positive behavior and academics. Students will online shop in the Mustang store at the end of each nine-week period to spend their Mustang points. 

• Mighty Mustang -Teachers choose one student that makes a positive impact for recognition as the “Mighty Mustang” Award each month for his/her class. This selection is based on behaviors that exhibit leadership qualities. Student names and photos will be posted on a special bulletin board in the main hall and receive additional acknowledgement.

• Perfect Attendance-Students with perfect attendance for the 9-weeks will be recognized and receive an incentive. Students who have perfect attendance for the entire school year will receive a certificate and award. Teachers and staff use their discretion on how Mustang points and Positive Office Referrals are distributed.

END OF THE YEAR CEREMONIES

Details for the End of the Year Ceremonies will be provided towards the end of the school year. Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten ceremonies will be held according to the important dates listed at the beginning of the handbook. Awards ceremonies for 1st through 5th grade students and 5th grade promotion day will be held according to the important dates calendar. Dates and times may be adjusted based on circumstances.
